WOSSAA Track and Field – Day 2

Northwestern won Three Medals on Day Two of WOSSAA Track and Field held Friday, May 22. The Huskies qualified an additional 7 athletes in 7 events for the OFSAA Regional West Track and Field Championships on Day Two of WOSSAA competition. This brings Northwestern’s two day total to 9 athletes qualifying in 10 Events for the OFSAA Regional West Championships to be held on May 29,30 at Western University in London.

Northwestern’s OFSAA Regional West Qualifiers (Top 6 in each event) from Friday (Day Two) include:

Bronze – Emma Kestle – Midget Girls 3000m – 12:10.84 minutes (Northwestern Record – Previous Record – Emma Kestle   12:26.82 minutes in 2015)

Bronze – Tessa Deighton – Junior Girls Javelin – 26.49 metres

Bronze – Cody Carde – Senior Boys Long Jump – 6.27 metres

4th – Jordyn Riehl – Junior Girls Javelin -26.02 metres

4th – Taylor Broughton – Senior Girls Discus – 27.88 metres (Taylor threw 27.88 metres under pressure on her sixth and final throw to jump from 7’th place to 4’th place – earning a qualifying spot for OFSAA Regionals)

5th – Andrew McGuire – Midget Boys 3000m – 10:38.13 minutes

5th – Daniel McRoberts – Junior Boys Javelin – 45.51m (Daniel threw 45.51 metres under pressure on his sixth and final throw (a 5 metre personal best improvement) to jump from 7’th place to 5’th place – earning a qualifying spot for OFSAA Regionals)

10th – Open Boys 4x400m Relay (Daniel Bald, Josh Brittin, Garrett James, Sam Skinner) 3:56.87 minutes (Northwestern Record – Previous Record   3:56.97 (Ben Congram, Steven King, Mark Schmidt, John Bice in 2014)

10th – Ethan Day -Midget Boys 300m Hurdles – 51.03 seconds

11th – Taylor Broughton – Senior Girls Shot Put – 7.47 metres

12th – Dylan Jackson – Midget Boys Discus -25.81 metres

12th – Adam Skinner – Senior Boys 800m -2:11.14 minutes

13th – Lauren Eastman – Senior Girls Shot Put -7.37 metres

15th – Angela Walmsley – Midget Girls 800m – 2:50.20 minutes

15th – Liam Lennon – Midget Boys 800m – 2:37.42 minutes

16th – Emma Kestle – Midget Girls 800m – 2:52.14 minutes

16th – Ethan Day – Midget Boys 200m -27.64 seconds
