The SOAR (Student-Directed Opportunities and Rewards) have been involved in a project-based learning inquiry this year. They have been investigating the decline in the bee population and developing solutions to the problem from different disciplines – apiarist, botanist, entomologist, toxicologist, etc. As a culmination to our studies, we are having the “To Infinity and Bee-yond” Community Fair – Let Bees SOAR again” to raise awareness of this global issue. Students have been creating interactive demonstrations and games to educate the public. We also grew pollinator plants from seed in the greenhouse this winter and are now in the process of planting a bee-friendly garden in the atrium. We also sold over $1200.00 worth of plants at our sale.
Thank you to Lucy C. for the poster design.
