Roboticon 2017

On March 18th and 19th, 2017 four teams of Huskie computer science students competed in Roboticon at the University of Guelph.

Roboticon is an annual event run in by the School of Computer Science at the University of Guelph. It is an exciting opportunity for high school students to learn more about the field of Computer Science by designing and building LEGO Mindstorms robots to complete a series of challenges designed by University undergraduate students. Under strict rules and time limits, teams of students are challenged to build and program robots by sharpening teamwork skills and performing set tasks against a field of competitors.

Over the grueling two day competition, the Huskie teams competed well and represented Northwestern and Avon Maitland District School Board with class and style. Northwestern was the lone school from AMDSB represented at the competition!

Mr. Restall would like to thank the students for their commitment and ingenuity and also the parents who volunteered their time to drive to the event. Mr. Restall would also like to acknowledge generous support by D&D Automation, Mr. Johnstone and the Business Department for supporting Robotics at Northwestern.
