Northwestern’s Junior Boys Basketball team continued Huron-Perth league play on Wednesday with back-to-back double header games at Stratford Central.
In game one against the Rams, and down two starting players with injury, the Huskies started slow defensively allowing seven Central 3-pointers in the first half. The Huskies also had difficulty finding a rhythm offensively against a Central zone defense finding themselves behind early 29-13 at the half, a deficit they could not overcome. Final Score – Central 56 – Northwestern – 28. Reid Forthuber led all scorers with 7 points.
In game two against a very organized and athletic Central Huron squad, the Huskies overcame tough full-court pressure and man-to-man defense winning 62-41. The Huskies stepped up their defensive efforts in the zone and found their rhythm offensively. Naoto Fujita made several impressive drives to the hoop scoring 17 points for the Huskies.
The Junior Boys are now 2-1 in league play. They are in action next at home on Monday on December 10 vs Mitchell.
