Another season of planting has unfolded in Northwestern’s “Fields of Green”.
Produce such as garlic, tomatoes, celery, onions, cauliflower, and eggplant be directed to our culinary programmes in the autumn when classes begin. In addition, a portion of the vegetables will also be donated to The Local Community Food Centre, on Erie Street in Stratford.
These gardens are part of the school’s new Environment Specialist High Skills Major programme which was granted by the Ministry in May. The gardens are only one-third of the Environment SHSM. Northwestern also hosts a hydroponic lab and greenhouse, which is where all the seedlings for these gardens were started in early March. Students interested in getting certification for an Environment SHSM, should contact Student Services.
