The Northwestern Cross Country Team had an awesome day at WOSSAA on October 29. Despite the 70 km winds, the threatening storms, and the huge tree that forced the convenor to reroute almost all the races, our huskies persevered!
In their final WOSSAA meet of their high school careers, Adam Skinner and Joanne Marshall left it all on the course. Placing an impressive 38th out of 119, Adam showed those London city kids that farm boys can run, too. And prepping for her Nordic Ski season, Joanne Marshall came in 35th out of a field of 120.
For our junior boys, Andrew Maguire sped to the finish placing 27th, with Zach Otto 10 seconds behind landing him in 31st. In his last race at Northwestern, Alejandro placed 80th in a competitive race.
The junior girls proved they are fierce competitors! Shayla “the speed demon” Brooks placed 17th. Emma “I dare my laces to come untied” Kestle placed 41st, and Angela “keep calm run on” Walmsley came in at 51st.
Last, our outstanding Midget boys team! These boys run with heart and have such potential it makes Mrs. Welsh giddy! Ryan Lott at 77th, Kurt Gidge at 67th, David Kuepfer 47th, Michael Vandewiel 26th, and AJ Schmidt, an impressive 14th. This placed the boys 6th overall – 2 spots ahead of St. Mikes.
