The Stratford Northwestern Boys Hockey team improved their record to 3-2 with a convincing 6-2 win over South Huron District High School.
The boys got off to a quick start this season with wins over St. Mike’s and Central Huron, before dropping 2 games in a row to F.E. Madill and Central Huron.
The game against South Huron was important for the boys to bounce back after 2 losses. Ethan Leblanc got the Huskies going early, with a pretty spin-o-rama goal from in front of the net. Defensemen Ben Smith would follow that up with another first period marker and Northwestern was up 2-0 after 1 period.
The 2nd period saw much of the same, with the Huskies pressuring South Huron for most of the game. Jaxon Gilbert and Eric Roes notched the 2 goals in the period. The 3rd period saw Max Hall and Riley Sykes add the final 2 goals, with Leblanc adding 2 assists. Goaltender Jarod Flemming was solid in net for the win.
The Huskies will play St. Mikes next Tuesday, Jan. 16th at 1:15 at the Rotary Complex for the rivals final regular season meeting of the year.
