On May 9 2017, the Avon Maitland District School Board introduced a stream of technology called Google Expeditions kit and this included a companion Android phone. These phones are Board owned devices and require certain features to be turned off as they will be used by several schools and many different students. To do this we had to enable the Mobile Device Management app within our Google Administration Console. By turning on the Mobile Device Management app, we are able to capture all the Board owned devices so that we can manage them. Unfortunately, when this was turned on it also captured a number of personally owned Android and Blackberry devices that had a Board Google account attached to it.
Please be assured it is not our intention to manage any personal devices.
We are currently in consultation with Google and working with their engineers to remedy the problem. It may take up to 24 hours for these changes to reach all affected devices.
Please note that your information has not been deleted from your Google account and you can still access your data on other devices such as an iPad, tablet, Chromebook, PC or Mac.
